Click on the links above to explore the creative ideas of our Rainforest Workshop Alumni. This entire leadership section is compiled from contributions of our workshop alumni. Our group now includes over 600 action-oriented educators, naturalists, and researchers and forms an informal environmental leadership network spanning 47 states nationwide. We encourage our alumni to incorporate their travel experiences into their teaching about the environment at all levels of education in both classroom and field study. We invite any one with an interest in rainforests to join us as we study, visit, and teach others about the environments of the Earth.
ALUMNI AWARDS & FEATURES
Congratulations to CHRIS BROTHERS!
In March, Chris was one of 95 mathematics and science teachers from
across the country honored with the Presidential Awards for Excellence in
Mathematics and Science Teaching (PAEMST), the nation's highest commendation for
work in the classroom. Chris teaches High School Biology and Marine Ecology at
Falmouth High School in East Falmouth, Massachusetts. She attended our
Amazon/Andes Workshop in 2003 and our Belize Workshop in 2002.
Innovation, humor, expert knowledge of their subject, and an ability to inspire
student creativity are among the qualities common to these candidates selected
for this award. Several of our workshop alumni have received this award in
years past and we are proud of all of them! The 2004 PAEMST Awardees were announced in April 2005. Each Presidential Awardee receives a $10,000
award from the National Science Foundation. Check the Presidential Awards
web site for an application if this award is something that you would like to
