Our rainforest workshop alumni now totals over 600 action-oriented teachers, naturalists, and researchers and forms an environmental leadership network spanning 47 states nationwide. We represent a large group of individuals who use the rainforest and environmental teaching as a focus at all levels of education. We provide an exchange of lessons and ideas that have proven successful in both classroom and field study. Our network is very informal and we invite any one with an interest in rainforests as well as other environments to join us as we study, visit, and teach others about the environments of the world.

Here is what our alumni have to say about the educator's workshops!

WORKSHOP LEADERS Outstanding, extremely informative, while keeping a good sense of humor. (D. Finley - MA) Impassioned, informed, and eager to share. (B. Royal - TN) Extremely knowledgeable, personable, and friendly. (G. Williams - KY) The leaders went beyond the call of duty to make us comfortable and provide every opportunity to learn. (T. Anderson - MI) The most knowledgeable I've ever worked with. (K. Newton - IA)

RESOURCES Great resource materials - sample lesson plans, books, reports, bibliographies. (T. Anderson - MI) Excellent materials - read prior and then read after. (J. Onslow - AK) Excellent, professional, useful, and applicable to any grade level. I am impressed by the organization of education materials that support the whole scope of this workshop. (G. Lopez, TX) Many great resources - not only written material, but also the people. (B. Brown - KY) Excellent - obviously much effort went into creating and compiling the materials. (B. Desy - MN)
INSPIRATION Once you've experienced a week in the rainforest you cannot teach rainforest ecology the same way again. The experience permeates your perceptions. (B. Royal - TN) A life-changing experience. (J. Atkinson - NC) Spiritual -- I will carry it with me forever. (S. Collins - FL) I am inspired to make the rainforest come to life in my classroom and in my students' minds. (D. Caringi - CA) Experiencing the rainforest and reef first-hand are essential to understanding the importance of these specialized ecosystems. (R. Haymes - TX)
ADVENTURE Alive every second. It recharged my batteries. (S. Collins - FL) I never thought I'd be comfortable 105 feet above the forest floor for a 1/2 hour trying to photograph butterflies! (E. Wrubel - NH) I was overwhelmed with emotion and excitement while swimming in the Amazon just feet away from the pink and gray dolphins. This was a non-stop workshop full of once-in-a-lifetime experiences. (C. de Ramon - NC) What a way to learn - experiencing it yourself. Isn't that the way we try to teach our children? (B. Brown - KY) Each day was full of adventure. The meals were delicious and the rainforest was spectacular. (D. Caringi - CA) Great to be yourself--a person interested in a learning adventure--not a teacher, mom, principal, wife. (M. North - NC)
GROUP DYNAMICS My roommate and I were well matched! Thanks! (E. Wrubel - NH) A wonderful opportunity to establish friendships with others who are truly interested in environmental education. (C. de Ramon - NC) Friends for life formed a continent away. (J.J. Brady - TN) I was anxious about attending the workshop alone. People were so friendly that I knew immediately there was nothing to worry about. (R. Wellman - MN)
